MidnightBSD 3.1, released on 8/27/2023, brings enhancements and fixes to this operating system. Updates to third-party libraries, bug fixes from the previous release, and the addition of Ravenports Universal Package System headline the release. Users can choose between mports and Ravenports during installation, benefiting from more updated and unique packages in Ravenports. The mport package manager introduces improvements like better download progress display and enhanced cleaning functionality. Various hardware-related fixes and updates have been made, and there are known issues such as excessive Mport output during non-interactive package downloads. Users are advised to update all Perl libraries due to the updated Perl version.

The RPM DB has switched to SQLite: The RPM database no longer uses the old and unmaintained Berkeley DB. It now uses the modern SQLite. Conversion is performed during upgrade from Mageia 8. When using an HTTP server, it's now possible to specify a port different than the default "80". The stage1 images are compressed with Zstd instead of gzip. Lots of bug fixes and improvements in the partitioner. Add 'downloader=curl' in order to switch from wget to curl for downloading packages. Rescue - The rescue system has been enhanced. Live ISO: The NetworkManager system service is now enabled by default on the Plasma Live ISO (this was already done for the GNOME and Xfce Live ISOs in previous releases). This allows network connections to be managed via the Plasma system settings tool as well as by the traditional Mageia network management tools.

The siduction team is very proud to present an unscheduled release for a special occasion. Debian, whose unstable branch some of us have been following for over 20 years, celebrates its 30th birthday on 2023-08-16 and we think that is worthy of all honor. Debian is the second oldest distribution after Slackware, and is solely supported by the people involved, without a company standing in the background or someone at the top deciding where things go. Debian is considered the 'universal operating system' because of the many architectures supported to this day and the stability of their releases is legendary.
