This is the most significant release of Parted Magic since the introduction of the original Secure Erase GUI in 2013. The new Secure Erase GUI addresses the full range of compliance gaps and feature requests we’ve received over the years. An all-new Mount GUI and integrated File Manager are directly tied to the Mounter, delivering exceptional stability in live environments - outperforming lightweight alternatives like Thunar that rely on trash directories and udisks. The File Manager was written entirely from scratch and shares no code with existing file managers. The previous save session was unwieldy, blindly copying the entire /home and /etc directories to the flash drive. The new smart detection system saves only the files that have actually changed - including installed packages and objects in /usr. If you delete a file and perform a save, that file will be transparently removed on the next boot. The system also excludes unnecessary paths like /var, /tmp, and other transient system files. A new smart shutdown menu prevents accidental shutdowns and reboots with an optional countdown timer.
We are happy to announce the general availability of Fedora Asahi Remix 43. This release brings Fedora Linux 43 to Apple Silicon Macs. Fedora Asahi Remix offers KDE Plasma 6.6 as our flagship desktop experience. It contains all of the new and exciting features brought by Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 43. It also features a custom Calamares-based initial setup wizard. A GNOME variant is also available, featuring GNOME 49, with both desktop variants matching what Fedora Linux offers. Fedora Asahi Remix also provides a Fedora Server variant for server workloads and other types of headless deployments. Finally, we offer a Minimal image for users that wish to build their own experience from the ground up.

Ruby is an interpreted scripting language for quick and easy object‐oriented programming. Ruby arrives with RubyGems, which is a package manager for Ruby. The RubyGems software allows you to easily download, install, and use ruby software packages on your system. The software package is called a “gem” which contains a packaged Ruby application or library. This is similar to Python's 'pip3' command, which has been built into Peropesis for a long time. 3. Earlier this month, the Linux kernel 6.19 was released, and that was a good excuse to refresh our ISO. And as you can read from the title, the changes for this one were big enough to turn it into a major release with a name that really covers this ISO. Named after the second-largest moon in our solar system, Titan. So, we borrowed Saturn’s largest moon to orbit around our purple Linux space for now. ... For this release, we cleaned up and streamlined the installation process and added some new big features alongside: improved mirror ranking support, including providing an optimised mirror list when the installer is offline; added hardware detection for all GPUs and VMs; we are now installing additional drivers for all GPUs, including Vulkan drivers and the needed packages for hardware-accelerated video decoding when applicable; GPU drivers are now being loaded early by default; this release also introduces a new tool, eos-hwtool.
This release presents the new Linux kernel 6.19.4 as well as an upgrade of python 3.12. In addition, Starbuntu has improved the embedding of the display manager SDDM into its system and, moreover, from now on detects a new kernel by means of the excellent bash script "ubuntu-mainline-kernel".
With the latest updates for the connectors for Samba 4 and Active Directory, we have completed the planned functionality of the Recycle Bin feature of Univention Nubus on UCS. The Recycle Bin makes it possible to keep deleted objects in an intermediate storage location from which they can be restored. If a user or group is accidentally deleted, it can be fully restored from this intermediate storage. All internal technical attributes such as identifiers or password hashes are reset to their original state. The user can continue working immediately, and all connected systems retain the same technical information. With the latest errata updates, the Samba 4 Connector, which is part of the 'Active Directory-compatible Domain Controller' app, as well as the 'Active Directory Connector' for connecting to Microsoft Active Directory, have been extended with a restoration function. This can be used both with the 'tombstone' implementation that is active by default in Active Directory and with the optionally activatable Recycle Bin functionality, which serves there as intermediate storage for deleted objects.

The FreeBSD Release Engineering Team is pleased to announce the availability of FreeBSD 14.4-RELEASE. This is the fifth release of the stable/14 branch. Some of the highlights: OpenSSH has been upgraded to version 10.0p2 and now uses the hybrid post-quantum algorithm mlkem768x25519-sha256 by default. OpenZFS has been upgraded to version 2.2.9. Significantly improved cloud-init compatibility in nuageinit. Bhyve virtual machines can now share a filesystem with the host via the new p9fs(4). Significant improvements in manual page tooling and content. FreeBSD 14.4-RELEASE is now available for the amd64, i386, aarch64, armv7, powerpc, powerpc64 and riscv64 architectures.
The Zentyal development team today announced the availability of Zentyal Server Development Edition 8.1. Zentyal Server 8.1 is based on Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS and comes with the latest versions of all integrated software.
