We are pleased to announce the new version 25 of Mauna Linux. Mauna Linux 25, code-named 'Polaris' is based on and is fully compatible with Debian 13.1 'Trixie'. In this new version, we bring the GNOME Desktop, in addition to several updates from both the Debian team and Mauna. The star of this new version is the GNOME 48 desktop, which so many have requested and is now available to everyone. Gnome 48, codenamed 'Bengaluru', arrives with a set of minor new features or improvements, with a focus on user comfort. There are several new features in GNOME 48: notification grouping - it is now possible to stack notifications when they come from the same application, similar to what already happens on Android or iOS; improved image viewer....
Users of the new Fairphone (Gen. 6) will especially benefit, with key features like Mobile Data and VoLTE now enabled by default. The /e/OS Camera has also been enhanced to support 50 MP photos, and installation of /e/OS is now fully supported via the /e/OS Installer. Live Caption becomes more user-friendly as caption text can now be repositioned for better readability and accessibility. For families using /e/OS, Parental Control includes a crucial update. A clear warning now reminds parents to save the security code they define, as there's no way to recover it if forgotten. Third-party app compatibility has been improved on several devices, including the Fairphone 3, 4, 5 and the new Gen. 6. This ensures a smoother and more consistent app experience across these models. Good news for CMF Phone 1 users: /e/OS 3.1.1 brings key fixes that improve your daily experience. USB-C wired audio now works properly, switching between front and back cameras is smooth again, and Wi-Fi calling with sim.de is fully functional. We've also corrected the Murena boot logo display for a cleaner startup look. System updates include a new browser version, an updated microG, and faster fake location switching in Advanced Privacy. App Lounge and Calendar behavior have been refined, and tablet navigation and setup flows are now smoother.
There are new SparkyLinux 2025.09 ISO images available of the semi-rolling line, code-named 'Tiamat'. Changes: packages updated from the Debian and SparkyLinux testing repositories as of September 14, 2025; Linux kernel 6.16.7 (6.16.7, 6.12.47-LTS and 6.6.105-LTS in SparkyLinux repositories); Calamares installer updated to version 3.4.0, installation on an encrypted disk has been restored; Firefox 128.14.0-ESR (143.0 in SparkyLinux repositories); KDE - QuiteRSS replaced by Akregator; LXQt - QuiteRSS replaced by Liferea; GCC 15 (GCC 14 removed); all SparkyLinux graphical components updated to the new testing version. Important: installation on UEFI machines requires an active internet connection; installation via Calamares (menu icon 'Sparky Installer') is recommended on UEFI machines.
Q4OS 'Andromeda' is based on Debian 'Trixie' 13.1 and Plasma 6.3.6, optionally Trinity 14.1.5 desktop environment, and it's immediately available for 64-bit/x64 computers. An aarch64 edition is also planned for later. According to Debian upstream, the 32-bit/i386 'Andromeda' edition will not be available. However, we recommend using Q4OS 5 'Aquarius' for older i386 systems. We will continue to offer three years of support for the 32-bit edition of 'Aquarius' until June 2028. We intentionally keep the Plasma desktop appearance as the stock one; however, those who love Q4OS brand should switch to Q4OS's dedicated 'Debonaire' theme in the system settings. It's a simple step and you get a stylish Q4OS look-and-feel of your desktop session.
I present to you Voyager 13 'Debian', based on Debian 13 'Trixie'. It features all the updates and almost all the new features of the latest Voyager release, ported and tested. This version features the new GNOME 48 desktop, lightweight, fast, modern, fluid, secure and powerful in a hybrid environment for PCs and tablets. It includes the Linux 6.12 kernel and is based on the Debian 13 distribution, with its new features. The 6.12 kernel is in LTS release. Trixie will be supported for the next 5 years thanks to the combined work of the Debian Security team and the Long-Term Support team. New options have been integrated into the Voyager Box, with new layouts and a new theme, Miami Beach. These options include Dark Style, Night Mode, new parental control for blocking sites, Conky Control, Gnome Shell Effects, Repair, Debian Switch, Backup, Wine, Gaming and selected GNOME extensions.

Instead of the Maps application, it comes with the Mapa GPX-Studio web application, which in addition to preparing and exporting place marks and routes, can also be used to view various maps, including orthophotos and street view. With Mapa GPX-Studio, students can prepare excursions, mark and document points of interest, export them in GPX format and send them to a mobile phone where they can use the Comaps application. The MolView molecule viewer-editor web application now has a more functional version. We have added an application for programming Microblocks, Arduino and other boards to the new Programming applications section. We have added the LibreOffice Math equation editor. The Heimer application for creating concept maps now supports Basque in version 4.5. We have updated all applications to the latest versions.
What does GLF OS 'Omnislash' bring since its beta release? The Active Directory Connector was extended several months ago with advanced filter rules, making it easier to configure synchronization for only specific parts of the directory service. With the latest update, parent containers can now also be synchronized automatically when performing such partial synchronizations of the LDAP tree. This significantly reduces configuration effort, especially in complex, dynamic scenarios. In the Univention Directory Manager, user and computer objects can now automatically be assigned to the group stored in their 'parent container' when they are created. Previously, the default primary group could only be set globally. This new feature is the first step toward handling objects differently depending on their position in the LDAP database, and eventually also administering them with different permissions.
This version has got an after-login screen in order to beautify the login process. In addition, this release contains a bundle of improved homemade software: the Starbuntu upgrade as well as the routines for marking (remembering) directories and for placing windows on the screen.
