We are excited to announce that our latest software version 8.4 for Proxmox Virtual Environment is now available for download. This release is based on Debian 12.10 'Bookworm' but uses the Linux kernel 6.8.12 and kernel 6.14 as opt-in, QEMU 9.2.0, LXC 6.0.0, ZFS 2.2.7 with compatibility patches for kernel 6.14, and Ceph Squid 19.2.1 as stable option. Proxmox VE 8.4 includes the following highlights: live migration with mediated devices such as NVIDIA vGPU, this allows the migration of running VM guests that use mediated devices; support for external backup providers - Proxmox VE now provides an API that allows developers to write backup provider plugins; sharing host directories with VM guests using virtiofs which allows sharing directories between the Proxmox VE host and VMs without the overhead of a network filesystem....

Wifislax64 version using slackware64-current base, is the development branch, so that's where we are going to find the most modern packages available, the newest drivers, firmwares, kernel, web browsers, libraries and everything that makes up the system, OpenSSL3, WPA3 support. The only thing that is out of date with current events is the KDE desktop, which is still Plasma 5, although in its final version. However, Xfce is updated to its latest available version. The ISO image has the newest kernel today, that is, the 6.14 kernel. Network testing packages are up to date with their newest versions available and the odd tool has been rescued by finding Python 3 compatible forks.

This release introduces the ability to test Wayland sessions in the current/rolling editions of Cinnamon, LXQt and Xfce, in addition to being the default display server in GNOME and KDE since many releases ago. To test Wayland, log out and select the Wayland session from the first icon at the top right of the login screen. Keep in mind that the Wayland implementation in these desktop environments is still experimental. LXQt and Xfce, for instance, are using labwc compositor, which means Wayland won't work in VirtualBox. Changelog: fixed application icons not showing in Openbox session; improved 001-core stripping; improved Clang compatibility in the kernel build script; added CPU instruction detection to the Linux installer to warn users that PorteuX requires SSE4....
