LibreELEC 11.0.6, the truly-final-stable™ version, has been released with a focus on addressing a Linux kernel bug from the previous release. The update introduces experimental RPi5 support, emphasizing Kodi 21 development set for early 2024. Notable changes include Linux update to version 6.1.74 and various fixes. For Raspberry Pi, there are instructions to address issues with H264 HW decoding and Kodi display on 4K TVs. The Generic image now runs the same graphics stack for both ARM and x86_64, supporting HDR with recent AMD and Intel GPUs. A Generic-Legacy image is introduced for specific scenarios. Amlogic support is extended with some limitations, and DVB Add-Ons are currently deactivated due to lack of kernel support. Users are advised to make backups before upgrading, and support is available in the forums for technical issues.

2024-01-25

The Galileo Neo version 2024-01-25 release introduces a new kernel (Linux kernel 6.7.1.arch1-1) and updates essential core packages for the Galileo ISO and offline KDE Plasma option. While not adding new features, this release focuses on necessary fixes and updates. It does not impact running systems that have been regularly updated, as the core updates are likely already in place. The fixes included address improvements for the ISO and the installation process. Key updates in this release include Calamares 23.11.2.4-1, Firefox 122.0-1, Mesa 1:23.3.3-1, Xorg-server 21.1.11-1, and Nvidia-dkms 545.29.1.06-1. The bug fixes address issues related to Wayland sessions, annoying effects on the Plasma Live Environment with legacy Intel graphics, automatic installation of the r8168-lts package for the Linux kernel LTS, proper handling of package fetching during online KDE Plasma installation, and enhanced error handling in Calamares for a more seamless installation experience.

BunsenLabs Linux Boron
2024-01-24

The BunsenLabs team are pleased to announce the release of BunsenLabs Boron. Based on Debian 'Bookworm', this is the best BunsenLabs so far, in our opinion. Some of the new features are: a beautiful graphical user interface by our graphics team, taking Juliette Taka's Debian Emerald wallpaper as a starting point, windows have round corners, the menu has icons and the panel is vertical, as usual, all these details are easily adjusted to users' preferences; alternative GUI themes are easily selected from our BLOB utility, under 'User Preferences' in the menu, there is a dark Boron theme with red highlights, a horizontal panel and no menu icons, users who liked earlier BunsenLabs themes can easily switch to the Beryllium, Lithium, Helium or other desktops; an optional utility will monitor package upgrades and inform the user if any are available; various bugs and annoyances have been fixed throughout the system.
